Google CAPI Integration with Trackier for Ad Conversions

This article would provide an in-depth understanding of Trackier's new feature to integrate conversion APIs with Google ads.

Updated this week

Overview

Google’s Conversion API (CAPI) is designed to give advertisers more reliable tracking by sending conversion data directly from the server to Google Ads. Unlike browser-based tracking, which can be limited due to ad blockers or cookie restrictions, CAPI ensures that essential signals are delivered securely and consistently. This helps advertisers maintain accurate reporting and better optimize campaigns in a privacy-conscious environment.

Google CAPI integration with Trackier will enable our users to automatically collect Google Click Identifiers (gclid) and send conversion postbacks directly to Google Ads. This integration is essential for tracking ad performance accurately.

Google does not allow the mapping of events in third-party softwares such as Trackier to default events in Google Ads; therefore, for this integration, you must ensure that custom conversion events are created in Google Ads before configuring the integration in Trackier.

Process to integrate Google CAPI with Trackier

Step 1: Creating Custom Conversion Events in Google Ads

Creating custom conversion events is necessary because Google Ads requires every advertiser to define the actions they want to measure. These events act as a bridge between Trackier postbacks and Google Ads reporting. Without them, the system would not know which specific actions to attribute to a campaign, leading to gaps in tracking.

Log in to Your Google Ads Account

  • Go to your Google Ads account and navigate to the 'Conversions' section.

Create a New Conversion Action

  • Click on 'New conversion action' to start the process.

  • Select CRMs, files, or other data sources, then select track conversions from clicks and select the skip option in the Data source, as shown in the screenshot above.

Choose a Category and Name the Event

  • Select an appropriate category for the conversion event and give it a meaningful name.

Create Multiple Events if Needed

  • You can create several custom conversion events if you need to map multiple postbacks in Trackier.

Step 2: Configuring Integration in Trackier

To set up the Google CAPI integration, go to the Automation tab and select the Integration section. From there, click on Tools and choose Google CAPI.

Event mapping is one of the most crucial steps in this integration. By connecting a Trackier goal with a Google Ads conversion event, you ensure that only relevant and approved actions are reported back to Google. This avoids unnecessary noise in your performance data and helps maintain clean, reliable reports.

Managing and Monitoring the Integration

  • Edit Settings: You can edit the integration settings anytime from the manage section in Trackier.

  • Mark as disabled: You can disable the postback temporarily or delete it entirely if you no longer want to use it.

When managing your integration, it’s a good practice to test postbacks with small sample events before scaling campaigns. Always verify that the right goals are mapped to the correct conversion events in Google Ads. Regularly checking logs also helps identify any discrepancies early, so you can fix them before they affect reporting.

Postback Logs:

The postback logs provide important details that help you understand what’s happening with your postback.

  • In the logs, you can find the postback ID, which is a unique number that helps identify each postback event.

  • You will also see the conversion ID, which connects the postback to a specific conversion action, such as a sale or sign-up.

  • The request body shows the data that was sent to Google, and the response body shows the reply from Google’s server.

  • The latency tells you how long it took for the request to be processed.

  • Time Sent shows the time and date when the postback was fired.

For example, if a user clicks on your Google Ad and completes a sign-up on your platform, the corresponding postback log will record details such as the gclid, conversion ID, and response from Google. If everything is configured correctly, this log confirms that the sign-up was successfully reported back to Google Ads as a conversion.

Conclusion

Integrating Google CAPI with Trackier allows for seamless tracking and conversion postback, enhancing your ad performance insights. By following the steps outlined above, you can set up custom conversion events in Google Ads and configure the integration in Trackier efficiently.
