AWS S3 Bucket Integration

Updated over a week ago

At a Glance: This article will guide you through the process of integrating your Trackier panel with an AWS S3 bucket.

Overview

Amazon S3 is a cloud storage service from Amazon Web Services (AWS) that lets you store and access unlimited data anytime, anywhere. It’s often used for storing mass amounts of data for backups. An S3 bucket is like a container where your data is stored.

Integrating Trackier with Amazon S3 enhances data storage capabilities by offering unlimited data storage, security, cost-efficiency, and seamless data access. It’s particularly beneficial for businesses that need to handle large volumes of tracking data, offering a reliable way to store and back up reports.

This integration helps with better analysis and automation, making operations smoother and supporting data-driven decisions.

Integration Steps~

Step 1: Access the Integration

From the Dashboard, navigate to Automation and then select Integrations.

In this section, click on Tools, scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you’ll find AWS S3 listed as an available option. Click on 'Config' to proceed with the integration.

Step 2: Configure the Integration

Once you click on Config, you will be redirected to the following page.

Export data to S3: Flip this toggle to enable the integration, and the required data will be automatically exported to your designated bucket.

Access Key: An Access Key is a unique ID, like a username, that you use to access AWS services. It helps authenticate your app when connecting to services like S3 through APIs.

Secret Key: A Secret Key is a private password paired with your Access Key, used to sign requests and ensure secure communication between your platform and AWS services.

NOTE: Access and Secret Key credentials authenticate and authorise the platform to access your S3 bucket.

You can find the Access Key, Secret Key along with the Region and Bucket name from your AWS account.

Bucket Name:

A bucket name in AWS S3 is a unique identifier for a storage container in the cloud, just like a folder on your computer. When you create a bucket, you choose a name that’s used to store and access your data. Enter the bucket name so AWS knows where to store your files.

Region: The region refers to the geographical location where your Amazon S3 bucket is stored. When integrating S3 with Trackier, specifying the region ensures that requests are directed to the correct AWS data centre.

Export Frequency: Choose how often you’d like the data to be exported. You have two options: hourly or daily.

Data to Export: Select the data you’d like to export, such as clicks or conversions.

Format: Select the format in which you'd like to export the data. Common data formats used in AWS are JSON, Parquet, and CSV.

How to retrieve details from AWS~

To retrieve Access Key and Secret Key:

Navigate to the Amazon Web Services Console and click on your account name in the top-right corner. In the drop-down menu that appears, select Security Credentials.

Click on the Continue to Security Credentials button.

Expand the Access Keys (Access Key ID and Secret Access Key) section to view a list of your active and deleted access keys.

NOTE: The AWS Secret Access Key can only be viewed once, immediately after it’s created. If you've lost access to the key, you'll need to generate a new one, as it cannot be retrieved later.

To generate new access keys, click the Create New Access Key button.

Click Show Access Key to display it on the screen. You can also download the key to your machine by clicking the Download Key File button, allowing you to access it whenever needed.

NOTE: If you don't write down or download the key file before clicking Close or Cancel, you won’t be able to retrieve the AWS secret access key later. In that case, you'll need to delete the current keys and create new ones.

To retrieve Bucket name:

To find your bucket name in AWS S3, log in to the AWS Console and open the Amazon S3 console. On the S3 Dashboard, you’ll see a list of your buckets under the 'Buckets' section. Scroll through the list to locate the desired bucket name.

To retrieve Region: You can find the region in the AWS S3 console by selecting your bucket, and the region will be displayed on the bucket details page.

AWS S3 Logs

The logs record the requests made to your S3 bucket. These logs can help you track and analyse access patterns, monitor for security concerns, and troubleshoot any issues related to object storage.

A timestamp in S3 logs is the exact time when the data was uploaded to the bucket.

A message in an S3 log refers to a description of the event that occurred, such as a successful upload or any updates to the integration.
