Extract Postback Parameters

Extract parameters from postback

Updated over a week ago

At a Glance: This article will guide you through the simple steps to quickly extract key values like txn_id and sale_amount from postback URL helping you streamline tracking with accurate, real-time data extraction.

Overview

In digital marketing, postbacks are crucial for recording conversion data. Once a conversion is completed, the advertiser triggers a postback through a postback URL, sending data from the advertiser's system to your tracking platform.

Advertisers send important details, such as txn_id (transaction ID) and sale_amount via postback URLs. These values may need to be extracted from the postback URL to ensure better attribution, precise reporting, accurate payout calculations, effective campaign optimization.

Use Case :

  • Capture each transaction uniquely through the transaction ID

  • Log the correct sale or revenue amount associated with each conversion

  • Prevent data loss or mismatches due to misconfigured parameters

If you need to extract key values like the Transaction ID (txn_id) and Sale Amount (sale_amount), you can easily set this up in your panel by following the steps below.

Step-by-Step Guide~

1. Go to Tools under Integration

Go to the Automation section in your dashboard, then click on Integration and select Tools. Here, you’ll find Postback listed as an option—now click on Config to proceed.

2. Set Up Configuration

Once you click on Config, then choose Add New to create a new configuration for data extraction.

  • Select the Advertiser: From the dropdown, choose the advertiser for whom you want to set up the extraction.

  • Choose Parameter: Select where you want the extracted values to be stored.

  • Assign Names:

    • For Transaction ID, use txn_id or any name that suits your needs.

    • For Sale Amount, use sale_amount or any name of your choice.

3. Save the Configuration

Once everything is set, click on Save and your panel will now extract and store the values from postbacks that match your configuration. This setup ensures that key data like transaction IDs and sale amounts are captured accurately.
