Overview
If your publisher tracking link is not opening and shows a “Targeting Failed" message, it means the traffic does not match the campaign’s configured targeting rules or is being blocked due to restrictions.
Below are the most common reasons and how to resolve them.
1. Region or City-Based Targeting Mismatch
One of the most common reasons is a geo-targeting mismatch.
If your campaign has region- or city-level targeting enabled and the incoming traffic is not from an allowed location, the link will fail and show the following:
Targeting Failed
What to check:
Targeting set on the campaign level
Targeting set in the Goals Payout section
Global Targeting
2. Publisher or Source Restrictions
Even if campaign-level targeting is open, publishers may be restricted.
You may see the "Blocked" message if the publisher does not have access to the campaign.
3. Advertiser-Side Targeting Rules
If no targeting is configured in Trackier but the link still fails, the issue may be on the advertiser’s side.
Advertisers may apply:
GEO restrictions
IP filtering
Device blocking
Internal campaign rules
Important: Always confirm with your advertiser if external targeting is applied.
What You Should Do
If you see “Targeting Failed", follow these steps:
Check campaign targeting settings
Check Targeting in the Goal & Payout section
Confirm publisher eligibility
Ask advertiser if external filters are applied
Test the link from a permitted GEO/device
Best Practices
Always test tracking links before sharing with publishers
Avoid overly strict GEO or device targeting unless necessary
If multiple targeting rules are set, ensure they do not conflict with each other.
Coordinate with advertisers to avoid overlapping restrictions
