Frequently Asked Questions on CAP
Q1. Why are conversions recorded after the CAP is reached and the campaign is paused?
When the CAP is reached (for example, at 3:00 PM), the campaign is automatically paused. However, some conversions may still appear afterward because of the following:
Users had already clicked on the campaign before the CAP was reached
These clicks were already attributed to the campaign
Conversions depend on when the advertiser sends the postback, which can happen later
To better understand this, you can enable the Click-to-Conversion Time filter. This will show that these conversions originated from earlier clicks, before the CAP limit was hit.
Note:
Any conversions recorded after the CAP is reached are typically marked under the Cancelled state, as they exceed the defined limit.
Q2. Why did the tracking link get disabled?
This is expected behaviour when the CAP limit is reached.
Once the defined CAP is met:
The campaign status automatically changes to Paused
Tracking links for your publishers are temporarily disabled
This restriction remains in place until the next CAP cycle begins (e.g., daily or monthly reset)
This mechanism ensures that the platform strictly enforces the CAP limits and prevents any additional traffic or conversions beyond the set threshold.
Note:
If the CAP is set at the campaign level and the CAP is reached for all publishers, the campaign will be paused.
If the CAP is set for publishers and the CAP is reached for a specific publisher, then only that publisher’s tracking link will be disabled, while the campaign remains active for others whose CAP limits have not yet been reached.
Q3. Why did the campaign pause when the approved conversion CAP was not reached?
This happens when CAP is enabled on both gross conversions and approved conversions.
Gross conversions include the total of the following:
Approved
Pending
Cancelled conversions
If the gross conversion CAP limit is reached, the campaign will automatically be paused, even if the approved conversions have not yet reached their defined CAP.
Q4. Why is the campaign still active even after reaching the CAP?
This can happen due to a few common reasons:
Campaign timeline changes:
If any updates or edits were made to the campaign, the CAP cycle may have been reset, causing the campaign to remain active.Publisher-level CAP applied:
If the CAP is set only at the publisher level and not at the campaign level, then:Only the specific publisher’s tracking link will be disabled
The campaign will continue running for other publishers
If the issue still isn’t clear after checking these points, you can raise a support ticket for further assistance.
Q5. How can I set up advertiser-level CAP?
You can set up the advertiser-level CAP by following these steps:
Go to Advertiser
Click on Manage Advertiser
Select the advertiser for whom you want to enable the CAP
Click on Edit
Enter the required CAP details (e.g., daily, monthly, or lifetime limits)
Click Save to apply the changes
This will ensure that the defined CAP is applied across all campaigns associated with the selected advertiser.
You can enable the CAP based on daily, monthly or lifetime for your advertiser depending upon your requirements.
Q6. Why is the CAP not applied to some approved conversions?
CAP is designed to work only with automatically approved conversions on the platform.
In cases where conversions are manually approved through uploads, the CAP does not apply. This means:
Manually approved conversions bypass CAP restrictions
The system does not limit or block these approvals
As a result, the total number of approved conversions may exceed the defined CAP
Q7. Can I enable the tracking link after the publisher link gets disabled after the cap is reached?
Yes, you can certainly do this. Please click on “Manage Links”, which will redirect you to a page where you can view all disabled tracking links. From there, you can simply enable the publisher’s tracking link again.
Q8. If multiple CAPs are set, what is the priority?
When multiple CAP types are set, the system applies priority based on the time span of the CAP. The shorter the time frame, the higher the priority.
CAP Priority Order:
Hourly CAP – Highest priority
Daily CAP – Lower than hourly CAP
Monthly CAP – Lower than daily CAP
Lifetime CAP – Lowest priority
Note:
If a lifetime CAP is applied, changes may take up to 24 hours to reflect across the campaign.
