What is File Transfer Protocol (FTP)?

FTP is a standard network protocol used for transferring files between a client and a server on a computer network. It allows for the secure and efficient transfer of large files, making it a popular choice for businesses and individuals who need to share or access files remotely.

FTP works by establishing a connection between a client and a server, where the client can upload or download files from the server. This is done through a series of commands and responses, which are sent over a TCP/IP network. FTP also allows for user authentication, ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the files.
