Overview
Tag Manager is used when the advertiser has integrated their website with Google Tag Manager and uses that to add any pixel directly to their website.
This article explains how to add a Trackier image or IFrame pixel to an advertiser's website using Google Tag Manager (GTM) — without needing to edit the website's source code directly. It covers everything from prerequisites to publishing your tag and verifying the pixel is firing correctly.
What is Google Tag Manager?
Google Tag Manager (GTM) is a tag management system that allows you to add, update, and manage tracking tags — such as pixels — on a website without modifying the site's code directly. Advertisers who use GTM can add Trackier's conversion tracking pixels through the GTM interface, making the integration faster and less dependent on developer resources.
Why Add the Pixel via GTM?
No need to modify the website's source code directly
Faster deployment — changes go live through GTM without a full site deployment
Manage multiple pixels for different goals from one central place
Easier for advertisers without technical teams to implement tracking
Before You Begin
Make sure the following are in place before sharing the pixel with your advertiser:
White-label your tracking domain — Before generating pixels, ensure that your tracking domain has been white-labeled in Trackier. Pixels generated with a non-white-labeled domain may cause trust or browser security issues on the advertiser's website.
Generate pixels for all required goals — Generate a separate pixel for the default goal and for each specific goal you want to track (e.g., registration, purchase, app install).
Share the pixel with your advertiser — Once generated, share the pixel code with the advertiser. They will follow the steps below to add it via GTM.
Important: Pixels must be placed inside the <body> tag on the Thank You page the confirmation page a user reaches after completing the conversion action. Placing the pixel on the wrong page will result in incorrect or duplicate conversion recording.
Steps to Add the Pixel via Google Tag Manager
Step 1: Open Google Tag Manager
Log in to the Google Tag Manager account linked to the advertiser's website
Select the relevant container (website)
In the left sidebar, click on Tags
Step 2: Create a New Tag
Click New to create a new tag
Click the edit icon on the Tag Configuration section to open the tag type selector
Step 3: Select Custom HTML as the Tag Type
In the tag type selector, scroll down and select Custom HTML
A Custom HTML input box will appear
In the HTML box, place the Trackier iframe or image pixel.
Now define the trigger for the pixel in the "Triggering" section.
Follow the above steps to add multiple pixels for the different Goals.
Step 4: Add the Trackier Pixel
In the HTML input box, paste the Trackier IFrame or Image pixel provided to you
Example IFrame Pixel:
html
<iframe src="https://demo.gotrackier.com/pixel?adid=YOUR_PIXEL_ID" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" width="1" height="1"></iframe>
Example Image Pixel:
html
<img src="https://demo.gotrackier.com/pixel?adid=YOUR_PIXEL_ID">
Which pixel to use? Use the IFrame pixel where possible — it is more reliable and can fire additional third-party pixels (like Google or Facebook) from within it. Use the Image pixel only when IFrame is not supported.
Step 5: Set Up the Trigger
Scroll down to the Triggering section
Click the edit icon and select or create a trigger that fires on the Thank You page
The most common trigger is Page View with a condition matching the Thank You page URL
Adding multiple pixels for different goals: Repeat Steps 2–5 for each goal you want to track. Create a separate tag for each pixel with a trigger pointing to the appropriate conversion confirmation page for that goal.
Note:
Please remember that pixels need to be placed on the Thank-You page of the website inside the <body> tag.
Step 6: Save and Publish
Give the tag a clear name (e.g., "Trackier — Default Goal Pixel")
Click Save
In the GTM workspace, click the Submit button at the top right
Add a version name and description, then click Publish
Once published, the pixel will be live on the advertiser's website. Allow a few minutes for the changes to propagate before testing.
