Adjust: Privacy Postback & Skadnetwork Integration

This article helps you understand how to configure and manage privacy postbacks for Adjust integration, ensuring secure and accurate conversion tracking.

Updated this week

Overview

With Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework limiting IDFA-based tracking on iOS 14 and above, SKAdNetwork has become the primary method for measuring app install conversions on iOS.

Privacy postbacks allow Adjust to send SKAdNetwork conversion data back to Trackier without relying on user-level identifiers.

This integration ensures that your iOS campaigns continue to receive conversion data securely and accurately, even in a privacy-first environment.

What is SKAdNetwork?

SKAdNetwork (Stock Keeping Ad Network) is Apple's privacy-preserving mobile attribution framework, designed to allow advertisers to measure app install campaigns on iOS without tracking individual users.

Key things to know about SKAdNetwork:

  • No user-level data : Conversions are reported at the campaign level only. You cannot identify which individual user converted.

  • Signed postbacks from Apple : Apple sends a cryptographically signed postback directly to the ad network (e.g., Adjust), which then forwards it to your tracking platform (e.g., Trackier).

  • Conversion values: A 6-bit conversion value (0–63) can be used to encode post-install events, such as purchases or registrations. You define what each value represents.

Once you are done with Skadnetwork Setup with Apple, you can start integration with Adjust to get back conversion.

Setup Your Postback On Adjust Interface

Contact the Adjust team to have the privacy postback URL placed at their end. Share the postback URL you copied from Trackier.

Your final postback URLs will follow the formats below. Note that the domain and security token will be unique to your account.

Install Advanced Privacy Postback

The install privacy postback is the primary postback that fires when a user installs your app after clicking on an iOS campaign tracked through SKAdNetwork.

Since Apple does not pass user-level identifiers in SKAdNetwork postbacks, this postback uses campaign-level parameters such as the campaign ID and publisher ID to attribute the install back to the correct campaign and partner in Trackier.

Event Advanced Privacy Postback

The event privacy postback is used to pass post-install in-app event data, such as purchases, registrations, or level completions back to Trackier from Adjust.

Unlike the install postback which fires once on app install, the event postback fires each time a tracked in-app event occurs, allowing you to measure the quality and value of your iOS traffic beyond just the install.

Note: The goal_value={event_name} parameter in the event postback tells Trackier which in-app event to attribute the conversion to. Make sure the event name matches the goal configured in your Trackier campaign.

Step 3: Integration Testing

Once the postback is set up in Adjust, test the integration to confirm that conversion data is flowing correctly into Trackier.

For a full testing walkthrough, refer to the Trackier & Adjust iOS 14 Integration Testing Guide.

Why Set Up the Adjust Privacy Postback?

  • Maintain iOS campaign visibility even when users opt out of IDFA tracking

  • Attribute installs and conversions accurately back to the correct campaign and publisher

  • Track post-install events such as purchases, sign-ups, and other key actions

  • Stay compliant with Apple's ATT framework and privacy regulations

  • Ensure publishers are correctly attributed and compensated for iOS traffic they deliver.

Summary

This article walks you through how to configure privacy postbacks for your Adjust integration in Trackier, enabling accurate iOS conversion tracking via SKAdNetwork. It covers the full setup process from retrieving your privacy postback URL in Trackier, to configuring it in Adjust, to testing the integration end-to-end.

By the end of this guide, you will have a working privacy postback setup that allows Adjust to send SKAdNetwork conversion data, both installs and in-app events back to your Trackier panel, without relying on user-level identifiers.
