Traffic Fallback Setting

Updated over 6 months ago

At a Glance: This article will help you gain an understanding of fallback traffic, which will further help you optimize your campaigns.

The network has the option to use traffic for better utilisation on the Trackier Panel. You can now set any fallback URL, and if any conditions are not met, then traffic on a particular offer will be redirected to the fallback URL.

These are the conditions when traffic is redirected to the fallback URL.

  • Failures to meet advertiser targeting and restrictions will result in the diversion of traffic to the fallback URL.

  • Once the CAP is reached, any traffic afterwords will be redirected to the fallback URL.

You can place any link as a fallback URL to which you want traffic to be redirected. If you want to divert traffic on some campaigns, we suggest adding some internal publishers, creating a tracking link, and adding that link as a fallback URL. This will help you track conversions on the Trackier panel.

Note : The priority of the fallback level is set as: campaign level, then advertiser level, then global level.

Campaign-level fallback setup

  • Go to Particular Campaign, click on Settings, and navigate to Fallback Traffic. Here you can add a campaign-level fallback URL. Also, you have the option to select a particular campaign as a fallback.

  • When campaign-level targeting or restriction fails, or if the campaign is paused due to any reason, then traffic is redirected to the fallback URL.

Note: The Fallback campaign will be given priority over the Fallback URL in situations where a fallback is necessary.

Fields description

  • Fallback Campaign: You have the option to choose the campaign where you would like to redirect any additional traffic from the existing campaign.

  • Fallback URL: In this section, you have the option to insert a fallback URL. This will redirect any traffic to the fallback if it does not meet the criteria for the targeted campaign.

Note: If you specify both the fallback URL and the fallback campaign, the system will always prioritize the fallback campaign and route your traffic to it.

  • Fallback Organic Publisher: You can assign all of your conversions with a No-Session ID error to one specific publisher of your choice.

Use Case: Typically, this feature is utilized to monitor all conversions that result in a no-session ID error.

As a result, we suggest making a demo publisher and designating all of those conversions to that publisher.

  • Allow Spillover Conversions: In case the CAP is surpassed, below are the actions that should be taken regarding the excess conversions:

    - Always (Approve the conversions, even if the campaign is not active.
    - Yes (Approve the conversions if campaign is paused because of CAP)
    - No (Cancel the conversions)

  • Cancel Fallback Traffic Conversions: By default, conversions from fallback traffic are labeled as approved. If needed, you can enable this feature to classify them as cancelled, preventing affiliates from viewing them on their dashboard.

  • Cancel Conversions for Blocked Postbacks: You have the option to cancel the conversions for the blocked postbacks at your discretion.

  • Cancel conversions if conversion geo is out of coverage: You have the option to mark conversions as cancelled if they originate from outside the targeted geographic area.

  • Attribute clicks for blocked publishers: Enabling this feature will allow for the approval of conversions from blocked publishers on clicks that were previously attributed.

Allow Traffic Diversion: When the campaign receives traffic from a different campaign, it is considered a traffic diversion.

You can redirect your fallback traffic to different destinations

  • Blank
Once the CAP is reached and the campaign is paused, the traffic will redirect to a blank page with the message "TARGETING_FAILED."

  • Different Campaign
Once the CAP is reached and the campaign is paused, the traffic will redirect to the campaign that you have selected.

  • Global Redirect URL

Once the CAP is reached and the campaign is paused, the traffic will redirect to a global fallback URL, which you can add by going to the Customize section.

  • Smart Link
Once the CAP is reached and the campaign is paused, the traffic will redirect to a smart link that you have selected.

Note: Smart Link contains various campaigns, and through one unique link, you can send traffic to the most relevant offer

Checking Fallback Traffic in Reports

If you want to see what traffic and conversions came to a specific campaign that were originally for a different campaign but landed on this campaign due to the original campaign's fallback settings, then select the report group by "referrer campaign" in the conversion or campaign report.
